I just know a few Japanese metal bands so far but the best Japanese metal album I've heard so far has to be Anthem's Hunting Time. Judas Priest wished they had written an album like that in the 80's.

[quote="Johnny Guitar"]Kadenzza (who is now in Sigh)
Kadenzza are decent, but they made the mistake of signing to Holy Records around the time they went downhill, so they didn't get much publicity.
I always felt that they would have also been bigger if they hit their stride 4-5 years earlier too. By the time The Embers of Reverie was released in 2003, symphonic metal, even of the eccentric variety, was already commonplace. It didn't sound dated exactly, but it would have made more impact if it was released in 1998.
As for favourite Japanese albums, can't say for now, but my fav Japanese bands are Sigh, Zeni Geva and Mono, although I haven't paid much attention to Mono since 2011 or so.
Boris are good, but they release too much stuff and it's hard to keep up with them.

The only Jap band I like really is Loudness, 'Disillusion' is their best.

I don't have many Japanese albums come to think of it. I do quite like the Galneryus album this is from though. Catchy cheesy slightly neo classical power metal.

Fan of my fave band also likes em!

Zeni Geva '10,000 Light Years'
I tend to go back and forth. Sometimes I think 10,000 Light Years is their best album because it has their most interesting textures and unorthodox song structures, but Freedom Bondage just hits me like a ton of bricks, while Desire For Agony is their most direct and immediate. Just try getting the riff for 'Dead Sun Rising' out of your head!
Either way, they are all killer albums, and I just wish they would put out something new but I doubt it's going to happen.
