Post What have I missed?
So I've not been on for about 6 months and I've faded away from all things heavy but I'm back with a bang. What great albums have I missed from the last 6 months or so?

I've picked up a few recent ones today but not had time to listen:

Ihsahn
Rotting Christ
Katatonia

etc.

I'm pretty much open to any genre so feel free to throw in recommendations. I used to post under the name LincolnPark until I forgot my password and Terrorizer failed to recognise my email address (despite it won't let me register this account under the email address as its on its records?).

The last couple of albums I keep going back to are Tau Cross (Rob Miller from Amebix, Away from Voivod and the guys from Misery) and the new Ignite "A War Against You".

Yeah, suddenly a horde of people all over the internet decided it would be cool to claim they love the new Vektor album because pitchfork said so. Sheep.

Vektor's music is ok, I hate the vocals though, doesn't work at all.

New ones by Deftones, David Bowie, Megadeth, Abbath, and Cobalt are pretty decent. New Deftones is probably my favorite of the year so far. New Anthrax and Amon Amarth are worth a go, but they didn't do much for me. Radiohead's new one is getting great reviews. I haven't listened to it yet, but am currently making my way through their discog to try it out. Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan just released new ones. Still need to listen to Ihsahn's new one. I was really looking forward its release, but haven't been in the mood for it.

Loads of albums from bands that were better 20 years ago.

And loads of abums from new bands that don't sound as good as the bands they are copying from 20 years ago.

Depends entirely on what you're after, as ever.

I can't really help you if your tastes favour frilly-bow-tie stuff like Katatonia, I'm afraid.

I have liked The Body's two releases this year quite a bit, but it depends on your tolerance for stuff that sounds as if the speakers are having a C-section.

I really dig the new Vektor album. :D

I've checked out the new Deftones album already and really liked that (not to any surprise).

Thanks for all the recommendations guy. Keep em coming.

On a Radiohead note, the new album is fantastic and worthy of great reviews. They're a band that never lets me down.

Magrudergrind
Cliteater
Moonsorrow

I really like Kvelertak but I'm a bit disappointed by their new one.

Is the new Moonsorrow that good then? Morose or more metal? I'm a fan of their more folky stuff.

Anyway I havnt got anything for you, I mostly listen to retrowave currently.

I'd say it's catchier Tom. Parts remind me of old Satyricon so they've probably increased the BM content but there is still plenty of the folk metal sound and also more of an epic feel.

Old Satyricon is good with me, will take a gander sometime over the weekend then, ta!
