No cowbell or tambourine unless you are Black Sabbath.

It would be helpful if we could standardise the title track as being the second track on the album, just after the punchy opener - think 'Holy Diver', 'Ride the Lightning', 'Master of Puppets', etc etc...

No new band shalt use any name that has been used by another band that released an album in the last 25 years (well, ever really...). Don't ask me for examples, but I've seen bands about with names that are clearly already in use and it doesn't take much to check on Encyclopedia Metallicum does it?

Only yesterday I saw the debut release for an Aussie black metal act calling themselves Cancer. I mean seriously WTF! If you don't know that there was a fairly substantial death metal band band called Cancer then you should leave the hall immediately.

Absolutely no covers of full albums. The odd cover is fine, a cover album is acceptable after twenty years but up 'til then, write your own fucking material.

Dream TheatRE, and especially Six Feet Under - stop it.

Thou shalt not release a double album, unless you are Iron Maiden and it's live after death.

Contemporary Metal needs more oohs and aahs grunts. Like Tom Warrior and Zach from RATM.

Remixes can fuck off. Ditto electronic collaborations. They don't work.

Guitars need no more than six strings (four for bass guitars).

Deep snare or fuck off.

And no harmonicas either. Even if you're Black Sabbath.

No band logos with basic typefaces. Be creative with it. And that doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be illegible.

There are 35 bands called Legion on the site, 3 called The Legion, and another 104 either formerly known as Legion, or with Legion in their name e.g. Legion of the Damned.

When on stage, point.
A lot.

When not pointing, raise your fist.
And then point.
