Short answer: brilliant.
Long answer: Lovecraftian themed atmospheric Black/Death Metal.

Nidingr, Wolfnacht, Wiegedood & Grima all released good albums, but my favourite and most played is:
Cnoc an Tursa - The Forty Five.

Good luck keeping up with Skullflower's release program. They seem to have a new release out every second week!

Probably would have been Diamanda Galas if it had turned up on time...

nah she isn't capable of that anymore. More covers bullshit I'm guessing? Just checked, she is releasing two albums simultaneously like she did in 2004.

Not much this month, Pallbearer's album was okay, but nowhere near as good as their first album.
The Pillorian album was good, but not as good as Agalloch.
I will go for:
Falls of Rauros - Vigilance Perennial

I said album of the month, not the year. Even if it is covers or live album it is her first release in nine years and I would rather listen to that than mastodon...

I've done a bit of a 180 on her in recent times. I'm starting to think that she really is that empty pretentious artist that she is often accused of being, or at least she has become that way. Malediction and Prayer was enough, yet we have had 4 covers albums since then. Why? They all sound identical too.

^^I can't see the new Mastodon beating this for me. They haven't released new music in over a decade but it sounds like they never left. It's a neat midway point between The Sophtware Slump (one of the best rock albums of the last decade) and Sumday, which should theoretically please most fans. It's nothing new for them and it doesn't really advance their style at all. It is neither consolidation or refinement either, so it's difficult to sum up. It just reminds me of why I like them so much, and that's enough at this point. Hopefully the next album will move someplace else musically, but for now this is good.

the month just started, but I have already made my decision about the album of the month:

^^No metal band has a chance of beating it, and other rock bands are in with a long shot at best.
