Post Albums With Improved Reissue Covers
There are plenty of instances where good original covers are replaced with unnecessary, and sometimes downright shit reissue covers (looking at you Maiden debut). Not too many actual improvements come to mind, at least not with particularly well known albums. I was thinking of Megadeth's debut, but the reissue cover was intended to be the original cover; it just didn't end up that way due to the incompetency of the label. I guess the best one that comes to mind at the moment is 'The Second Coming' album by Attacker.

It's a good example really; from a particularly shit cover to a great one.

Point Of Entry. I've never understood why the original artwork is some computer paper in the desert. The other image used is more abstract but more evocative.

The 'aeroplane wing' is the original cover, the paper/road/schlong one was for the American market.

I'm torn here. The reissue cover is clearly better drawn, and Eddie actually looks menacing rather than like a teenager caught mid-wank by grandma, but it totally lacks the charm and youthful inexperience of the original.

Yeah, fuck it. I like the original better.

So, seeing as this is already a completely pointless post, here's a reissue so fucking terrible that it almost defies description.

Original.

Shit reissue.

The Merauder band photo one was only on one early version, the German one possibly. I think it had the samurai cover everywhere else at the time. But then, CM are a German-based label.

I immediately thought of the first two Carcass albums. The reissues are fucking shit. I know it was initially because of stupid censorship laws.

There's this one too:

Less offensive, or less crap?

This was the original for the Gunners:

I've seen vinyl reissues of it recently, although it seems wrong not being the cross with the faces on.

Now your tolerance of remakes is starting to make more sense :D The deer caught in headlights feel of the original is what makes it. The beast in the redo looks ridiculous.

Even though the second cover is better and has the proper Megadeth logo, this album is end-stage syphilis.

It matches the music contained within.

The colors are better, but the rest is debatable.

I prefer the samurai cover because it looks more official. The band photo looks like an e.p or demo or something.

There's a reason the original didn't have the 'proper' logo on it.

I actually prefer the original. It's such a horrendous album that I wonder why it deserved a new cover, but the simplicity of the original works for me. I also like the colours of the light timber.

Yeah I agree. The original has a touch more class to my eyes.
