Better than the last couple but that's not saying much. They're really treading water these days.

Primal Scream - Evil Heat.

A few clunkers, but still....criminally overlooked.

Production seems a bit odd, but then again this is a shitty rip I found online.

Had a listen of Spotify earlier, I thought it wasn't great but not as bad as everyone says, I just thought "yep, that's a new Electric Wizard album alright..."

The new one's a definite improvement but I'm not too bothered about either of those albums TBH.

My arms are tired, and I'm out of breath just listening to it.
It's so simple yet chaotic. I have no idea what to make of it, but I think I like it.

edit: out of context that definitely reads like I'm cracking one out to it.
It's an album with just Drums and Sax for context haha.

I've never been a fan of the albums ('Interstellar Space', 'Sun Ship' et al) that came out after Coltrane's passing. Far too out there for me. Plus I've never been a fan of Rashied Ali's drumming as well.

I've switched to this now. Only on the first track but...fuck me.

Not only is it making me want to listen to the Tucker-era again, but all memories of Gay Space Cowboy fuckery on the last release are erased.

A Morbid Angel album with an odd production? How unusual! :D

Agreed, a lot of people slag off the post-heroin addiction Coltrane albums but I like his stuff better when he got really experimental

Admittedly it was kind of on in the background, but yesterday in work I decided to work backwards though his studio albums.

Interstellar Space - I really liked. Unlike anything I've heard upto this point.
Om - I was a bit unsure to begin with, but once it got going I was quite into it.
Expression - I enjoyed
Meditations - I enjoyed
Kulu Sé Mama - I wasn't particularly won over with it. I think it was the Caribbean influence that didn't work for me.
Ascension - I thought was alright, but around two thirds of the way in there was a timbre of either a trumpet or sax that really grated on me. Kind of sounded like a distressed donkey. And then it's like it was a phrase that just wouldn't resolve, as if the player was searching for something in the music. I just couldn't get past it. I just felt really frustrated listening to it.
