It seems a few bands that I had kind of given up have made comebacks in recent times. THe new Mayhem, for example, is far better than the last one.

I still prefer their second album, but this one's certainly cool, too.

The first 4 or 5 are really good. The first 3 are especially good.

N.P New Exhorder

So epic! Definitely my favorite of the band, despite not being much of an actual memorable record.

^^The atmosphere and mood stays with you, even if some of the songs don't. It's really a one of a kind album, not just from Absu, but for the genre as a whole. I listened to it like crazy back in 1995, and I still return to it from time to time. Sounds positively occult.

That Proscriptor album was horrible! The best song was the hidden track (AFOS cover) & even that was dodgy.

Yeah, it's really good...one of those ''I always forget plenty of things about it, but once I hear the album again I remember it's still my favorite of the band'' kind of albums, you know?

NP:

One of the best recent doom/death metal bands. Basically the route more Katatonia-influenced bands should have taken. This is melodic, yet overwhelmingly doom-y.

Yep. I had that experience when I returned to it earlier this year, but I like several of their albums. I just think Tara is extremely overrated, which puts me at odds with most of their fans.

N.P Mayhem Daemon

I'm not so crazy about that one, either. From what I remember, it's much more conventional, riff-wise and obnoxious drum-wise.

The new Sepultura single

Sounds like a modern thrash/death hybrid or something. Probably not my thing, but it's not bad - the vocals seem a lot better than on any other Derrick Green songs that I've heard.

bit of a SLayer vibe. I like it. The new King Diamond song is decent too.

If we agree one more time, the universe will implode!

I'm not even a fan of the Exhorder debut. It's listenable, but it's not my pick for br00tal thrash.
