TSA - "Heavy Metal World" (1984)

Polish heavy rock. Kinda like AC/DC meets Judas Priest with a vocalist that reminds me of Minoru Niihara from Loudness. The production & performances are excellent. It's almost a decent record but the weak vocals & inconsistent tracklisting leave it a little short of the mark for mine. I much prefer their "TSA" & "Live" records from 1983.

Trust - "Repression" English version (1980)

Some pretty decent French heavy metal & hard rock here. I have a fair bit of time for it. Anthrax have actually covered TWO songs off this album over the years ("Antisocial" & "Sects") .

Not so keen about Loudness. How do you feel about Anthem from Japan?

I'm not a fan of Loudness either but I have to review them for "Metal Academy" so I'm suffering through the experience again. I'm not too familiar with Anthem to be honest. Should I be?

Anthem's best stuff got release from 1986 until 1990.

Some short info of each record from this time for you:

Tightrope - imagine a rawer version of 80's Priest at their most metallic. Definitely got a Screaming for Vengeance / Defenders of the Faith vibe going on at times.

Bound to Break - less traditional and more original (Japanese?) stuff. The title track is a beast of a tune that features riffs I guess US/European bands didn't really possess much.

Gypsy Ways - To me this sounds like Anthem's least heaviest out of this era. It's more midpaced and has more simplistic rocking tunes. It's not a bad album but definitely my least favorite.

Hunting Time - THEIR BEST RECORD! A throwback to the more original style the band tried on Bound to Break but with far more consistent songs on it and a better production job. Most of the time it's a highly intense record that you wouldn't find on any other record of these guys. Check this one out first.

No Smoke Without Fire - a throwback to the more traditional stuff; again it's more Priest (although definitely better than anything Priest done in the 80s) and perhaps has some Accept-esque stuff going on too (although it's pretty much metal all the way through, with just one exception.)
