The first Rising Force album started out strong, but slowly began to devolve into complete fuckwittery. Overall, a 3.5/5, and most of that is in recognition of his talent, not at his songwriting ability, for obvious reasons. Marching Out is a 4/5.

I love Marching Out, Trilogy & Odyssey. I knew it was the end when I heard Bedroom Eyes!

Shiva - "Firedance" (1982)The only studio album from this English NWOBHM band whose sound sat somewhere between the hard rock of early Judas Priest & the progressive rock of Yes & Rush. 3.5/5

Car Bomb - Meta
Slept on this. What a dick. A snapshot of this would be a starting point where you take Fear Factory but actually no wait it's really good, and add in everything that's been at the cutting edge of metallic sounds in the time since said band's only really notable record Demanufacture, across all sorts of stables. Notably Dillinger, Meshuggah and Gojira. Then they do interesting things with that. Bigger picture is some Canadian sounding (like The End, Ion Dissonance etc.) tech types making something which in the hands of e.g.The End was barely penetrable sound almost catchy, via the spheres of influence of these other bands. I liked Car Bomb's debut, their 2nd record passed me by at the time totally, has also blown me away now I've heard it. This is the 3rd.. it's absolutely incredible. Objectively this is one of the most masterful and lean things I've heard this decade, coming out of the styles of music that I'd say I had a half decent critical ear for.. The production is off the fucking hook too. All in all its barkin fuckin mad.

It's not Terrorizer, obviously, but it's not bad as it stands...

Krokus - "One Vice At A Time" (1982)The sixth album from these talented Swiss hard rockers. It's beautifully composed & executed but there's little doubt that they've stolen their entire sound from AC/DC. Still... it's done so well that I can't help but enjoy it. 3.5/5
