Not really a fan of the production values - I know that's a compilation album, but still. Too bad, cause some riffs on there are pretty fun.

In fairness, that comp is made up of rehearsal demos. They never officially released or professionally recorded any material.

This is my personal fave Carcass album. It hits a sweet spot between their more grimy and gritty roots, and their later melodic musings.

I enjoy never been as enamoured to Enslaved’s sophomore release as compared to their debut. It’s merely competent. They definitely had brighter days ahead.

That's because the album is called Frost. :D

Gaza - I Don’t Care Where I Go When I Die

Feeling the noise. Chaotic and nihilistic post-hardcore.

I’m on the fence about whether I prefer this to the debut. This ones a bit more to-the-point. David Wayne definitely found his footing here as well. I can take or leave some of the more commercially-minded tracks, just a touch on the basic side (though for some reason I love ‘Method to Your Madness’ despite some of the cheese).

^ I need to recheck that record. I'm one of those who definitely prefers the first Mike Howe era over the David Wayne era.

NP:

Super obscure old school prog/power that riffs like there's no tomorrow.

I know that the drum sound, and by extension the drum performance, some people are critical of. The snare sound is very of it’s time, but it’s no different than, say, Leprosy by Death for example. People have noted that Arrington’s performance is a bit more restrained compared to some of their other albums. It works fine for me - at the end of the day, they are more a trad heavy metal band than a thrash/speed metal band.

I saw the lyric video for their newest song, and it was alright. Not a fan of the production, much like on their comeback album...(checks notes)...TEN YEARS AGO! (Time flies). Far too compressed. So I’ve gone back to their debut, and all it’s 80s glory. I still love it.

Sure thing! I don't mind the drums on Leprosy either. Never really got into Heathen.
