One of those ''great opening, average follow up material'' albums!

When I lived in JPN people always recommended X-Japan or Sexmachineguns but I dont like either. I did like that band called Tyrant (one of 16 Tyrants on EM) Sort of like Chthonic crossed with DB :

Still one of the more bizarre and unique death metal albums I've heard. I feel like they became a bit more solid with their writing and released more cohesive albums, but they lost the blissed-out zaniness of this album as well.

Yeah man, listening back you are right (also, not going to lie, my friends who were into rap were definitely trendy I think that tends to be the nature of the genre, it's always seemed willing to move on, just part of the competitive nature, even though I know there are obviously a lot of people who like the older stuff, like myself, and just bitch about newer stuff and how it's not the same /only half jk).
Rap's competitiveness is both its greatest strength and weakness. New rap. Don't get me started! Haha. Even Kendrick Lamar annoys me. I don't like many rap artists in their 20's at all. Too many of them sound like bad Wayne knockoffs.

YMy memory of it is obviously very poor It's probably more just the subject matter that made me feel that way, and Rakim placing himself as an elder-statemen of sorts (which he kinda was at that point, and deservedly so). I think I just tend to reach for Follow The Leader or Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em when I want some Rakim.
Interesting you prefer LTHE to Paid In Full. I like all Eric B and Rakim, but I think he was at his peak lyrically on The 18th Letter. There was a noticeable dip in energy and 'grit' on it though, which obviously bothers some fans, but whatever. I don't care. heh.
N.P Mr.Bungle new. This is really quite good. Much better than I expected. Along with Dead Cross, it seems like Patton is on the up again.
