Acheron belong to that group of bands who are painfully average yet continue regardless. See also Hate. And Mystic Circle who I once saw supporting Deicide and were awful, then I found out they'd been around for years

I saw Mystic Circle once. Might have been supporting Marduk in Bradford.

I saw Mystic Circle years ago supporting Cannibal Corpse before I was really into DM / BM.
I can only remember two things, a) they were a bit dogshit, and b) one of them had a massive fuck off wizards hat on.
PRIMORDIAL, Ex-MAYHEM, DIMMU BORGIR Members Join Forces In BATHORY Tribute Act
Norway's Imhotep conducted an interview with the members of the BATHORY tribute act TWILIGHT OF THE GODS at a rehearsal room in Oslo in mid-April. The all-star act consists of:
* Alan Nemtheanga (PRIMORDIAL) * Blasphemer (AVA INFERI, AURA NOIR, ex-MAYHEM) * Frode Glesnes (EINHERJER) * Nick Barker (BENEDICTION, ex-DIMMU BORGIR, CRADLE OF FILTH) * Patrik Lindgren (THYRFING)
TWILIGHT OF THE GODS will perform at various festivals this summer.
I gave away the double CD of them I got for subscribing to Terrorizer in the late 90's to someone on this forum last year. Their feedback was simply "this is shit". They were right.

More specifically, Peter Lake. The man could play anything and a whole fuckload off stuff nobody else could. I know Henrik is selling his soul in SCAR SYMMETRY these days, but I'm with you. What could have been.
MUTANT ruled too.

They realised that we've already got latter-period Death, and went home.
Also, back on the subject of "pointless bands who just keep going" - Mercenary.
METALLICA Frontman Robbed In Moscow? - Apr. 26, 2010 According to Prime Time Russia, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was allegedly robbed in a Moscow restaurant over the weekend.
Hetfield claims he and his bandmates had steaks and salads worth around 8,000 roubles ($270). The frontman paid by card, but later he saw that he had been billed over 19,000 roubles — that is twice the bill.
When he went back to the restaurant to complain, the management showed him a receipt for the disputed amount with his signature on it. Hetfield thinks his signature may have been forged.
I can't believe he is kicking off over $270. Prick.
