Maybe they'll get on with putting a decent album out, as opposed to Petrov's borefests.

For those of who hoping that King Diamond will deliver on his promise of a new album in 17, don't hold your breath. Here is the latest 'update' from Andy La Rocque:

Quote:
"I can't really say that we have started working on it yet, but it's coming. So as soon as we have some time, we're gonna start working on new songs."

As soon as we have some time eh? What the bloody hell is preventing them from moving forward? King Diamond had heart surgery a while ago and they have been touring a lot and putting out reissues of old albums. Surely it can't just be a matter of time?

It has been 10 years since the last K.D album. 10 bloody years. He/they aren't getting any younger. That's a significant amount of time to piss up against the wall.

Post Re: Strongbow Steve's Random Music Thread
So my brother & I have just released the first three episodes of our "Metal Academy" podcast. The concept is that we chronologically explore all of the great metal releases from the very birth of the genre. Each show includes three feature albums with my brother taking on more of the historian role (i.e. the stories, personalities, album covers, lyrics, reception) while I'm more focused on the music (i.e. production, musicianship, techniques, influences, etc). We also spend time exploring what else was going on in the global heavy music scene at the time with plenty of examples. The show titles are as follows:

Episode 1: The Origins Of Metal (1970-1971)

Episode 2: Sabbath Reigns Supreme (1972-1975)

Episode 3: The Priest Arises (1976-1978)

We recorded episode 4 last week & it should be out in a few weeks. "Metal Academy" is available on iTunes or you can download or stream it here:

https://www.facebook.com/metalacademypodcast/

I'd love to hear your thoughts guys. Constructive feedback is most welcome. :)

I certainly haven't. As I've said before, this is the third time the 'possible year date' has changed. It will come eventually, but I won't be surprised or upset if it doesn't come this year. I do share your concerns regarding their ageing though. I think King has been in fit form to perform well in the studio for over a year now, but this won't continue forever. A successful K/D album will rely heavily on King's vocal delivery, so doing it this year would honestly be best for everyone.

Please Gaga, let us be your backing band, tell us we are relevant, and broad minded and oh so good!

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/anthra ... king-band/

Ugh, this smacks of such desperation.

I don't know why guys like Ian feel the need to crawl like fawning lick-spittle bitches to these people.

And then try to justify it with Gaga because she is supposedly a "metal head". Piss off.

It is like the "rock n roll hall of fame", why the fuck does any self respecting rock or metal band need the approval and validation of these cunts anyway?

The mainstream doesn't give a fuck about you, or metal generally, you are wasting your fucking time, for the sake of being a background freak show for people who have nothing but contempt for what you do.

You won't convert her fan base, or suddenly become as successful as Metallica.

And this isn't edgy, or ground breaking. It is pathetic base sycophancy.

Sad Scott. Just sad.

You summed it up perfectly in this sentence alone.

Fucking right. A bunch of 50-something cunts desperately trying to make a few quid. No-one cares.

Easily the best so I've heard from them so far, but I'm still dubious.

I recall starting a critical thread on here about Gaga and was surprised how many people came rushing to her defense. She isn't even that much of a big deal now. Her big cultural moment was in the late 00s. Scott is just completely out of touch.

The Metallica/Gaga performance sounded shit anyway.

Speaking of this, Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam wore the below t shirt to the RNR HOF when they were inducted - and to his credit - highlighted some great bands who have been shafted, some of whom may be a surprise to many who think that grunge was all anti-metal and what have you. Some great, deserving bands referenced by Ament:

Slayer
FNM
King Diamond
Dio
Minor Threat
Motorhead
Thin Lizzy
Dead Kennedys
Bauhaus
Black Flag
Fugazi
Captain Beefheart
Husker Du
Iron Maiden
New York Dolls
King Crimson
the Cult
Mountain
Nine Inch Nails
Judas Priest
Bad Brains
The Replacements
Pixies
Blue Oyster Cult
Melvins
Descendants
Kraftwerk
T. Rex
