Post Old Goths back from the grave.
It seems that there is a bit of a resurrection going on at the moment.

Just read that The March Violets are playing again In London in November http://www.marchviolets.co.uk

We had Anne Marie Hurst of Ghost Dance / Skeletal Family performing again. The Specimen have blown the cobwebs off too.

Who would you like to crawl out their coffin again or do you think the past is best left dead?

I would really like to see The Rose Of Avalanche again, really enjoyed them back in the day.

I'd give up a pair of my spotty shoes to see The Chameleons reform (again).

The second best band to come out of Manchester, ever.

I thought she looked like the head of the English department at a high school, though perhaps that says more about the school I went to than her..

Seeing as Bauhaus have catagorically said the last album was the LAST album I'd like to see Love and Rockets ride again. Also The Danse Society should give it another go.

The only band I know in this thread. Would you kindly recommend a few decent bands for me to check out other than those mentioned? Cheers.

Thanking you! I've listened to all except The Chameleons (who I have never heard of) and Christian Death. I'll have a look on YouTube now.

I love Nick Cave, The Cure and The Cult, but (apart from some Bauhaus) none of the others you mention have ever done anything for me. I do like a lot of music that ties in with that, Violator era Depeche Mode, The Birthday Party, some stuff by Dead Can Dance, Joy Division etc though, so I'm open to suggestion.

Decided to try and be clever and list ten more not including bands Miranda mentioned. Damn not so easy you definitely took the best.

It's actually remarkable and annoying scrabbling through vinyl and tapes how many old albums are not available on CD

All About Eve - First Album
Alien Sex Fiend - Acid Bath
The Adult Net - The Honey Triangle
Balaam And The Angel - Live Free Or die
The Bolshoi - Friends
The Damned - Phantasmagoria
Ghost Dance - Gathering Dust
The Mission - Gods Own Medicine
Rose Of Avalanche - First Avalanche
Sex Gang Children - Beasts

How about blogging those on the Dominion blog?

Seeing as Miranda and Pete went through some of the best I had to dig deep for these ones. And without repeating bands on the previous lists:

The Birthday Party - Mutiny EP
The Creatures - Anima Animus
Dead Can Dance - Spleen and Ideal
Danse Society - Heaven is Waiting
Peter Murphey - Deep
Love and Rockets - Express
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Garden of Delight - Necromanteion IV
Shadow Project - Dreams for the Dying

Script of the bridge is an excellent album, but calling it goth is pushing it a bit, melancholy yes, goth no.

Most of the bands/artists in that list are not exclusively goth(!) - but woah that record is one of my all time highs.

I thought Adam had been... invited to have another 'long rest'?

I'd like to see Play Dead reform. And I'd become a practicing Orthodox Jew if Cocteau Twins reformed.

And to the various lists I'd add Cranes

Morf, did a Goth kill your father when you were a child? You seem to have taken personal offence at their presence here.
