 Facebook “Friends”
I used to really enjoy this topic before it was lost in the Lesser Forum Migration of October 2012, so I’m bringing it back.
Attracting my ire this evening is the chap who’s just messaged me to say that he’s an hour into the non-existent 2011 Conan the Barbarian remake, and who wants to know whether he should bother watching the end of it. Double ewe. Tea. Eff.

 Re: Facebook “Friends”
My Facebook is full of depressed Arsenal and Villa fans. It will be full of depressed Liverpool fans tomorrow.

 Re: Facebook “Friends”
Mine is full of either:
"can't wait to get back to uni, I hate this town"
Another fucking group picture before/during/after drinking. Ur all just sat on a sofa, no one gives a fuck.
"here's a picture of a puppy being saved by a man with cancer who used to a royal marine who gives money to charity, Like to show support, ignore of you have no soul and hate puppies."
"feel free to egg this house (with full address)"
Facebook = attention whores.

 Re: Facebook “Friends”
Nah, Facebook is just a tool. It's your friends who are attention whores.

 Re: Facebook “Friends”
Facebook is full of poppies and soldiers this morning, and while I completely respect the sentiment, I can't help but feel it's a lazy way for people to remember. Or even worse, with some people I get the sense that it's just posting to get more "likes" than usual. I wonder, of the many people who put those pictures up, just how many actually bothered to observe the two minute silence.

 Re: Facebook “Friends”
Those people are heroes, defying the Muslim scourge, "they" want us to stop wearing our poppies.

 Re: Facebook “Friends”
Then why have them, unless you're one of those attention seeking whores who like to bump up their friends numbers?
Facebook is ace if you use it as a tool for organising stuff from gigs to meeting friends etc. as well as the other ways you use it. It's incredible that a lot of the stuff it introduced is now taken for granted.

 Re: Facebook “Friends”
use it for your unreal friends then, dont understand the obsession with only having real life people you know,my favourite interactions are with people i have never meet, then it becomes a prefect medium

I wonder, of the many people who put those pictures up, just how many actually bothered to observe the two minute silence. I absolutely agree with this. If I might quote my own current Facebook status: “This week Facebook has been doing for Remembrance Sunday what the EDL have done for St. George’s Cross.” I should probably confess that I missed the silence completely because I was in the cinema watching Skyfall. I do my “remembering” elsewhere.
