 Metallica vs. Slayer
Since the Maiden polls keep running and since everyone still seems in the spirit for top 5 threads, I'll start the poll which has always seemed to generate the most buzz for polls on most metal forums. Who is superior out of the two greatest bands out of the Big 4, Metallica for their musicianship on RTL and MOP or Slayer for their body of work and pioneering extremity on a massive scale to all corners of the globe? Both bands are world renowned and worshiped by millions, so whose music do you think will last the longest in memory when both bands decide to call it a day?

Slayer, obviously. Steev will say Metallica and he will be wrong.

 Re: Metallica vs. Slayer
Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets stand head and shoulders above anything Slayer ever recorded, so I'm going with Metallica.

 Re: Metallica vs. Slayer
Metallica's top five albums get 22 fists, Slayer's get 20.

 Re: Metallica vs. Slayer
Great poll. If it was 1991. Two bands that have, for all intents and purposes been creatively lame and in need of putting down for 20 years.
Metallica's best stuff > Slayer's best stuff Slayer's shit stuff > Metallica's shit stuff Death Magnetic > last Slayer album.
Both bands, 5 fists up to 1991. Both bands 2 fists since.

Voted Slayer. I can't stomach anything from Metallica after And Justice for All. Nothing.

Five albums a piece makes for a decent stab at whose stuff comes out on top. See above. Stick Metallica's s/t album at number 10 and you'll have the correct order.

 Re: Metallica vs. Slayer
Slayer were better for longer, but what Metallica produced in 5 years is up there with the best metal albums ever made so I've went for Metallica.
Metallica should have called it a day in about 89 and Slayer in 91 though, both been pedalling pish for decades.

It is there at number ten. I meant in my post a few posts up from yours: Solaris wrote: 1. Ride The Lightning =2. Master Of Puppets =2. South Of Heaven =4. Show No Mercy =4. Seasons In The Abyss 6. Reign In Blood 7. Kill 'Em All 8. ...And Justice For All 9. Divine Intervention Add Metallica's s/t to the end of that one, ditch Hell Awaits for the turd that it is, replace it with Divine Intervention and you've got the actual order of merit.
