Portishead are superior, naturally. But they are similar in that their music is fucking EVERYWHERE. Or at least it was 5-10 years ago. Portishead were bastards for it. Couldn't watch TV for more than 20 mins in the 1990's without having a track off Dummy blaring at you.
That sort of Trip-Hop/Big Beat sound is much beloved of ad execs that's for sure.
