Here we have 3 albums where things got a bit more serious!

Gothic, no contest. The other two are as dull as dishwater, I've never understood the kudos they get. Turn Loose The Swans is by far my least favourite My Dying Bride album, and The Silent Enigma pales in comparison to Serenades and Pentecost III.

I like all three of these albums but "Turn Loose The Swans" is My Dying Bride's best work & amongst the best releases of the entire doom/death subgenre so it gets my vote here.

Nah Gothic is patchy. If you don't like MDB then it is the obvious choice, but T.L.T.S works as a complete album.

Went for Gothic as trve PL fan but TLTS is not bad at all! Even SE has its moments! (I think this poll is a wee bit unfair as the albums were released at different times ie. 91, 93 , 95)

I do like MDB, and I still thought it was the obvious choice. There isn't that much between them to be fair, but I prefer Gothic on every level really.

I like Anathema, but nothing they did back then really compares to the best PL and MDB material. Can't be arsed with the whole ginger Floyd era.

The Silent Enigma is fucking muck. Only Darren White is real.

Thirded. Except for the first bit about all three being good, Anathema are shit.

Fair enough, but to me Gothic is more of an aesthetic creation. In short, they got the sound/mood/tone right, but the songwriting was only there half to three quarters of the time. Falling Forever, for example, is a poorly written song, no question.
