Re: Strongbow Steve's Random Music Thread
Good. They haven't been Slayer for years, anyway. Though from the sounds of it, King still has those dollar bills in his crosshairs, he won't give up without a fight.

Re: Strongbow Steve's Random Music Thread
Sacred Reich have finally committed to making a new album: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/sacred-reich-signs-with-metal-blade-first-album-in-more-than-two-decades-due-next-year/^^I'm not really sure how well a new Sacred Reich album will go down nowadays. Their style is quite simplistic and more than a little dated, but they might have a few tricks up their sleeve. Not expecting much though.

Re: Strongbow Steve's Random Music Thread
Those who frequent the film thread might have seen I'm doing a sort of project based on 1985. Whilst I have no intention of going into the same depth (ie listing/ranking/reviewing them), I like the idea of doing a sort of musical companion project. So I was wondering what people considered the most essential or worthwhile albums of 1985? This is my current progress, which was basically a smart playlist on itunes using the year value I have a list of a few more from doing a basic google search, but figured this would be the place to ask.

Re: Strongbow Steve's Random Music Thread
I'd also like to mention Fates Warning's The Spectre Within which is a great example of early power metal and Sepultura's Bestial Devastation. The latter might not be as influential or features as fine musicianship as some other extreme albums of its time, but I still love it anyway.

Re: Strongbow Steve's Random Music Thread
Smashing Pumpkins are touring a set made up of tracks from the first five albums, line up is Corgan, Iha, Chamberlin and Jeff Schroeder (plus touring bass & keyboard musicians, presumably). Wouldn't be a bad one to catch.

Re: Strongbow Steve's Random Music Thread
I would prefer just the first FOUR albums personally. The "MACHINA" thing didn't do much for me. I was a fairly decent fan of the band before that & saw them tour once for "Siamese Dream"" & twice for "Adore".
