Chocolate Appreciation Thread (est 22nd October 2010)
Kinda like the biscuit appreciation thread, only more chocolatey. A place where like minded individuals can come together to share their love of the sacred chocolate and share new discoveries!! Waitrose are selling these, and they are really nice. Kinda like three rocher's on a stick without the crappy crunchy bit. Mind you, at 85p for a 40g bar, they're a bit steep! Rare as rocking horse shit, these little beauties are worth the trouble. Cashew nut praline in Duc D'or chocolate. Expect to pay about 60p each. If you can find them!

Ah yes, an essential addition. These are available in Ikea's Swedish Shop, but again pricey. £2.60 for a hefty bar. Worth it though.

I have a very good friend who berates his wife for her 'chunky' thighs. As someone who knows how to treat women (a truly awful phrase but it is what it is), I despair of his ill concieved comments. Apart from that he's a good chap. Quote: I love Fruit And Nut. I see those Duc d'o chocolates in most shops in a box by the till. Possibly, but Duc D'o make loads of stuff, not all of equal munchability! Are they actually those particular ones?? Last time I found them was in Yorkshire and they were two months out of date. And the bloke still only gave me 30% off! Outrageous. He shouldn't have even been selling them. To be fair they were fine... Fruit and Nut's a funny old thing, still can't make up my mind about it. Not really keen on the raisins truth be told. But almonds in chocolate is sound.

I like most chocolate, whether it's blatantly rubbish or clearly divine, mostly milk & sugar or proper top drawer... but my favourite are the high cocoa solids. I love the Lindt 80% one... the 99% are delicious but a bit too dry to snack on casually. Especially after a schmowk. Unusual I know, I wouldn't expect most to agree, but I really like intense and bitter flavours like coffee and cocoa, I think they're super awesome. Otherwise, I like hazelnutty chocolate too. Nougaty chocolate. Oooh, biscuity chocolate. I am greedy. The Big Gay Space Disco operates a zero-tolerance policy on bitter chocolate. Creamy Lindt is more than welcome though. On the subject of posh chocs, you really can't beat Thorntons. I've tried several supposedly superior brands, but while they often look very fancy with lots of piping and shit, they are almost always tasteless in the extreme.

Re: Chocolate Appreciation Thread (est 22nd October 2010)
On the subject of Toblerone. This is a most unusual chocolate, in that it's munchability depends to a large degree on it's size. Now for the moment I am only talking about the standard honey and nougat Toblerone, but bear with me. There are three or four standard sizes of Toblerone, and the smallest of these suck balls. I don't know why but they just don't taste the same. Your minimum investment should be the one that costs about £2. But the more you spend the better it tastes (just be wary of huge packs that contain multiple small bars, Toblerone is a minefield for the unwary!). Now, like many other companies, Toblerone have also produced some variants on their winnig formula. The most basic of these are the dark and white variants. Now I think dark chocolate is putrid stuff so I couldn't possibly comment on this particular item, but the white one is decidedly inferior to the milk. In fact if you want a decent white chocolate Toblerone you actually need to make a trip to one of the larger Marks and Spencer food stores and buy a 'White Mountain Bar' Moving on, there are of course many other 'niche' products available from Toblerone, including a Milk version with white peaks (mildly interesting but in the long run you're better off with the original), fruit and nut (not for me, but Shit Eagle may be able to give us a report on this), and those small pieces of individually wrapped Toblerone they try and sell at Christmas. These last ones are particularly offensive as I find it a great insult to the intelligence of chocolate lovers that they think merely breaking up a small-medium sized bar and wrapping it in individual wrappers justifies charging 3 times the price for the same weight of chocolate. You don't fool us you Swiss bastards, stick to what you are good at.

I used to work for Thorntons, and a lot of their chocolates were lovely.

Don't really eat chocolate, but I only really like dark chocolate, that's just slightly bitter. Not too sweet.
