Both artists are clearly the best at what they do but Nine Inch Nails' more rock driven sound appeals to me more.

With Teeth and Year Zero both had their moments, but The Fragile is the last essential album. Pretty much everything after YZ has been shit.

I think I'd have to say that "Still" is pretty essential.

It's hit and miss, but decent overall. Not sure about it being essential, I haven't liatened to it in years.
