Do we need to talk about Lords of Chaos?
So the trailer for the adaptation of 1998’s Lords of Chaos (by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind) finally hit the interwebs. I’m sure everyone is aware of it. Is anyone seeing it/has interest in it? Do we need to talk about it, or shall we go back to our dark spaces, play RPGs, and let the grimness overtake us?

Looking forward to seeing it, myself. I know all the trve and kvlt types won't go near it but I'd like to see what Akerlund has done with it. Someone I know saw it at Sundance last year and he enjoyed it.

Re: Do we need to talk about Lords of Chaos?
I’ve heard that despite some of the drama cliches of the trailer, the death scene/s (I’m assuming Euro’s death) is quite violent, and the trailer isn’t really representative of how dark the film gets. I suppose if you get past the Americans playing Norwegians, it might be entertaining despite the supposed inaccuracies. I’m more interested in whether this has an audience outside of those with prior knowledge?

Hopefully it's better than the book...

Is it true Mayhem haven't allowed them use any of their music? How's that going to work? Saw the trailer and the American accents threw me way off. Better than them attempting Norwegian ones, I suppose...

Better than them attempting Norwegian ones, I suppose... Yup. Mayhem refused, but from what I know, most of the BM used in the film is incidental background music. Even if the film does show them playing live then they could play any old thing tbh and the vast majority of the audience wouldn't be able to tell the difference. As for the accents, many Scandinavians speak with something quite similar to a US accent anyway (apparently it's down to the heavy influence of American TV and movies). Still makes me chuckle that Varg is played by a Jewish actor.

I don't think any of the bands involved permitted use of their music. I've read a few reviews that said it was laughably bad, but they were from kvlt troo BM warriors so it's probably great.

I watched Åkerlund's movie Polar the other night. I quite enjoyed it. Loads of ultraviolence and T&A. Mads Mikkelsen. Perfectly good way to spend a couple of hours.

I was thinking more about the sensationalist aspect of it, how they seemingly made Absurd killing that kid not that big a deal.
