Really pleasantly surprised by the Avantasia album. The last album of his/theirs I thought was worthwhile was The Metal Opera Part 2 (which I can't believe came out 17 years ago). It's like a joyous Jim Steinman meets Andrew Lloyd Webber by way of power metal kind of album.

My son recommended that to me - I only watched the videoclip.

If you think that sounds bad, try listening to Mille Petrozza out of the context of Kreater, sandwiched between Tobias Sammet, Jørn Lande, and Hansi Kürsch. :P

The last one was a bit of a surprise. I remember not so long since dismissing a track someone posted on here, but having listened to the whole thing, it's not bad. I think it's too long, and I think it definitely starts strong and fizzles out, but Gates of Hel the opener is an absolute banger.
